#WorkingWednesday - Walmart

We are proud to name Walmart (Store 3722) as our August Inclusive Employer Award winner.

This location has several employees with disabilities, and all are happy with their job. The company utilizes accommodations that allow employees with disabilities as well as those with out to do this job with ease.  By leveling the playing field, so to speak  they allow  everyone to advance and thrive.

Nicholas Betts, Digital Coach, explained “They use a electronic device called a TC72.  With this device we are able to do our entire job from picking groceries, dispensing orders to customers to helping customers find items or prices for items.“

Employee, Josh Ebie shared his pride at not get getting a job but being able to advance and get promoted: “When I started, I was a cart pusher, but my manager helped me get promoted and put in a good word for me.”

Portage DD is working to create a team that will support your employment goals. If employment interests you, talk to your SSA. Your SSA can connect you to the resources that can help you assess your interests and skills, help you build skills, prepare for interviews, assist with your resume and employment paperwork, and help with on-the-job assistance.
