2024 DD Pride Month - T-Shirt Design Winner

In honor of DD Awareness Month, Portage DD is happy to share the the t-shirt design and slogan for DD Pride Month:

Be Your Own Kind Of Amazing

For the “Be Your Own Kind Of Amazing” design and slogan, a class of students from Field Local School came together to create an impactful message that will be used to promote a positive self-image and the understanding of developmental disabilities.

The class, which includes students from a variety of grade levels, works throughout the year to learn about positivity and the idea of finding ways to share positivity with their community. Each week the students take these messages and share them with their family and friends. The “Be Your Own Kind Of Amazing” slogan was one of the messages of positivity the class talked about and shared throughout their school.

After talking with the class, the idea they want to share with their community is how we are all amazing and how important it is to remind the people around us they are amazing too. Everyone is special. Everyone is unique. Everyone is amazing.

According to Laura Fechter, Portage DD School-Age Transition Coordinator, the t-shirt contest is a great opportunity for students to be creative, work together to brainstorm ideas, and share their voices across Portage County. Overall, the contest has been a great success.

The design will be used in a variety of ways throughout DD Pride Month including posters, flyers, and social media campaigns. Also, it will be displayed prominently throughout the year in a variety of ways so it can serve as a reminder of the importance of positivity, acceptance, awareness, and inclusion.

This class, by working together, is using their voice and creativity to promote awareness and understanding to make a positive impact in their school, community, and beyond.
