December DSP Award Recipient - Melissa Sweet

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Melissa Sweet as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of December.  Melissa works for Accessible Home Services and was nominated by  Anntoinette Lawrence.

Here is what she had to say about Melissa:

Melissa is a wonderful young lady that provides excellent service to my daughter while in her day habilitation program.  My daughter has a great bond with Melissa and I believe that she also goes above and beyond her work duties to care for Briana. Briana’s face lights up every morning when she sees Melissa. I have so much more to say about Melissa, but overall she is a wonderful person and a great asset to the company.

Additional information added by Michael Ceci of Accessible Home Services about Melissa Sweet:   When Melissa enters the room, everyone’s face lights up.  Persons she worked with at a different location in the company still ask about her. Melissa really cares about folks and makes sure they have what they need.  I wish I had 20 employees like Melissa.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.

This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while also promoting independence and inclusion.

Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and will be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.

All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
