Here is what Christina had to say about Adam:

Adam has been working with my son for over a year. He has gained the trust of my son, and by doing this I have observed my son more willing to cooperate and his body language indicates he is less stressed. Adam provides choices and allows my son to have a say about things in his life, which is a great gift. My son has very little say about things going on in his life on a daily basis, so that is why I call allowing my son to make choices a "gift". Adam remains calm and compassionate in stressful situations. My son senses this calmness, and it helps him to remain calm or de-escalate quickly. Adam behaves in a manner which I would like my son to emulate, and for this I am very grateful. Adam is there for my son with a smile on his face and the attitude of helping him have a great day every day.

This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities while also promoting independence and inclusion.

Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.

All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
