DSP Award Recipient - Margaret Beichler

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Margaret Beichler as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of April.

Margaret is an Independent Provider as well as an employee of Portage DD and was nominated by retired SSA, Judy Fetterolf:

Here is what she had to say about Margaret:

Margaret has been a DSP for years and years. She has provided person-centered care to a multitude of people. Everyone that she serves, as well as their families, trusts her completely. She has so much experience, not only as a DSP, but has been a habilitation aide at Portage Industries and a classroom aide at HDS. She brings with her a calmness, that helps those who may be struggling. She is always willing to do anything that anyone asks. She has great insight and ideas on how to provide a quality of life to everyone that she works with.   Margaret is always willing to go above and beyond and was one of those people who I could call in a pinch.  Margaret worked with a person who could be aggressive if they were scared.  Margaret understood this and would remain calm and re-assuring with the person.  Margaret is the only person the family trusted to be with their daughter.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.

This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while also promoting independence and inclusion.

Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and will be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.

All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
