Employee Spotlight - Meet Alex

Meet Alex… Alex joined Portage DD in September of 2024 as a Tech Mentor. The Tech Mentor program is designed to allow people to gain on-the-job technology training. While Alex’s training will encompass many areas of technology, she finds the most joy working with communications and public relations.

Before beginning her journey with Portage DD as a Tech Mentee, Alex attended Kent State University, where she studied journalism and fashion merchandising. After college, she spent five years working at a call center.

Alex was thrilled when her SSA recommended this position to her, as it allows her to acquire new skills and apply her existing knowledge. She is excited to be creative and get experience in a field she enjoys. Having been part of the Portage DD system since she was 17, Alex finds it intriguing to observe how Portage DD operates from an insider's perspective, especially after experiencing the system from the outside. Alex shared that Portage DD has granted her independence, for which she is truly thankful, and she feels a strong urge to give back. As she embarks on this new chapter as a Tech Mentee, Alex is determined to make the most of every opportunity that comes her way.

In her leisure time, Alex enjoys cherishing moments with her family, friends, and dogs.
