John Vennetti Named Portage DD Superintendent
RAVENNA, OH | The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities on Wednesday voted to name John Vennetti its new Superintendent through December 31, 2022. The vote was unanimous, with all Board members participating through a live zoom conference call.
Vennetti, who was named Interim Superintendent on December 18, 2019, has been an employee of Portage DD for nine years.
“John Vennetti’s performance as Interim Superintendent and an extensive vetting process resulted in the Board unanimously appointing John as Superintendent,” Portage DD Board President Tim Moran said. “We look forward to working with John to move the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities forward.”
Vennetti joined Portage DD in October of 2010 as a Service and Support Administrator. He was promoted to Service and Support Administration Supervisor in 2014 and was later promoted to Director of Service and Support Administration in March of 2018.
Prior to his employment with Portage DD, Vennetti worked for the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Valley Counseling Services, and the Trumbull County Jail. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work, and a Masters of Education in Community Counseling, both from Youngstown State University.
The Board also voted on Wednesday to accept the resignation of outgoing Superintendent Gina Brown, effective March 31, 2020. This decision was also unanimous.
