April Phillips - March DSP Award Recipient
The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize a direct support professional who is an employee of Unified Resources Recreation as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of March. The recipient is April Phillips.
April was nominated by Ashleigh Lawrence. Here is what Ashleigh had to say about April: Miss April has always been an amazing staff with the Unified Resources Recreation program but the last 8 months she has shined. Jumping in to a virtual program and taking care of individuals during Covid has not been easy but she has not slowed her down. She has been creative and keeps outdoing herself with these activities. April has been our tech girl and has mastered our Facebook Lives. She gets to be crazy, fun, energetic and so much creativity. April is an amazing cook and she has been teaching individuals to cook on Facebook and as a provider. We can safely say she is turning into a grill master and a resourceful cook. April has a big heart and is always going over and above for the individuals she works with. The URR program is blessed to have her and so are the participants. Some of the persons served that April works with had this to add”
Jackie H says she loves her personality. She always makes us laugh especially when she dresses up funny. She had a great fake mustache.
Maria B says she loves Miss Aprils smile and her yummy cooking!
Bryan B says he loves hanging with Miss April in the van. Sometimes they dance and sing in the van!
Katrina S says she is very funny and makes me laugh.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.
This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while also promoting independence and inclusion.
Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and will be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.
All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
