Krystie Harris - March DSP Award Recipient
The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Krystie Harris (All Hearts Home Healthcare) as our March Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient!
Krystie was nominated by Service and Support Administrator Deb Gordon. See what she had to say below:
Besides providing exceptional day to day support, guidance and care for the past several years to the ladies she serves, she is a remarkably organized and consistent manager to the other support persons in the ladies' lives. As if this in itself was not remarkable, Krystie has fostered family relationships beyond anyones dreams.
She has assisted Catrice to locate and become reacquainted with her father and aunt in New York. This has spiraled into some amazing family moments for everyone. She even linked Catrice's family with Catrice's longtime friends from when Catrice received services from another provider agency. This speaks volumes to the kind of person she is. Looking only for the best interest of Catrice, and enabling her to have the potential to experience love and relationships .
From teaching Catrice how to make an informed decision based about personal values , to accompanying her ( after hours of behind the scenes collaboration) to see in concert and meet face to face the love of her like Omarian, Krystie Harris has gone above and beyond.
Krystie worked diligently with Roberta to support her in becoming aware of such things as part-time gigs; accompanying her to understand those soft skills needed to hold on to those jobs. She has participated alongside Roberta in giving back to her community; teaching her the actual skills to volunteer, while guiding Roberta to determine where her beliefs lie, and what makes sense for her in her own life. She continues to help Roberta to balance life, relationships, and healthy lifestyles for women. This past year because of Krystie, Roberta had a scary, and enthralling water skiing experience while vacationing at the beach.
Krystie has afforded the ladies to become who they want to be, by giving them ample social, and educational experiences, paired with consistency of care, love and respect. These things I’ve mentioned are just a few of many of the reasons Krystie Harris is an exceptional support professional and should be recognized.
