Kelly Glaze - May DSP Award Recipient

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize a direct support professional who is an Independent Provider as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of May. The recipient is Kelly Glaze.

Kelly was nominated by Megan Rothermel.  Here is what Megan had to say about Kelly:

I wish to nominate Kelly Glaze for DSP of the month. Kelly has been very good to me. I have met her two sons who also have been so nice to me. Not only have I met her sons I have met her husband & her family. When I’m with Kelly we have so much fun together. Through this difficult pandemic Kelly has found creative ways. She went above & beyond to make sure to do safe stuff with me.  Here are some safe examples:  I went to a concert where we sat in the car or we could also sit outside in the parking lot because they were social distance. Covered Bridges, African Safari, and Haunted Drive thru, Amish Country & have experience how they lived. I also tried Fondue; drive thru to say hi to our SSA. We go back & forth to each other’s houses. Kelly is fun loving, funny, down to earth we call each other Road Dogs.   When I’m with her she makes me happy. I have gained two loving cats. I went with her to pick them out when she was adopting them. Their names are Boo & Curry. Her sons have become like brothers to me. Kelly is an amazing person & I’m so glad to have her in my life. Kelly is a wonderful provider & I love her so much. Kelly has helped me in many ways. She taught me a card game called fill or bust which helps me with my math.  Another activity that we do together is cooking that also helps me with my math by using measurements. She takes me to the bank when it is time to put money in or take it out. Not only does she take me to the bank she also takes me to Wal Mart to pick up the groceries & my prescriptions. Kelly has helped me get my room organized. When my mom goes to Cleveland Clinic for treatments & Scans Kelly would let me stay overnight. We have played lots of games Sorry, Uno, fill or bust & now phase ten. I have gone to see her older son’s Taekwondo review. I went with them to Lorain & Bowling Green to cheer on her youngest son at his basketball skills qualifier & meet. Kelly also invites me over to her house to swim in her pool & dinner. I have been with them for their birthdays. We always have a good time wherever we go we even listen to music in her car. We also do Arts & Crafts to.
