Amber Agnew - October DSP Award Recipient

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize a direct support professional who is an Independent Provider as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for October. The recipient is Amber Agnew.

Amber was nominated by Judy Fetterolf.   Here is what Judy had to say about Amber:

Amber works with several individuals who are dually diagnosed with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses. Each person that she works with presents unique challenges. Though Amber does not have any specific mental health training, she goes above and beyond to assist them. She is extremely calm and leads by example. She can really explain information to them in a way that they can hear and understand it. She empowers people, helps them see the consequences of their choices, and gives the utmost respect to them.  She has incredible insight and great ideas. She sets clear boundaries of what she is willing to do and unable to do, and she consistently keeps her word. She is 100% reliable and has earned the trust of the individuals she provides for. She is always positive, never judges people, and meets them wherever they are in life to give them the best quality of life. She works with individuals that have not had a consistent provider before and does so with grace, a smile, and kind words.
