Eric Larsen - September DSP Award Recipient
The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Eric Larsen as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of September. Eric works for Portage Industries, Inc. and was nominated by a group a Self-Advocates and Colleen Brown. Here is what those he those he supports had to say about Eric:
He is the Best! He is helpful, kind, supportive, and a good listener. Eric takes the time to listen to understand and then to help figure out the next steps. He is sure to include, interact, and is friendly with everyone. He is an example of how to get along with your co-workers. Eric has done great work with attendees of Portage Industries, Inc. He is a valuable support to the Portage Advocate Players, helping to organize meetings, having the items they need, and working with them to practice their skits. Jason says, "Eric does a lot to support us in advocacy and our daily tasks while at work."
Maranda feels that " Eric has encouraged and supported my advocacy efforts."
Dani stated that "Eric is a good communicator; he listens to me."
Eric D. had to say that "Eric was helpful during the pandemic. I looked forward to our meetings. He is a good DJ he plays some jams! Sometimes he is goofy, which makes us laugh! He includes my interests when we talk."
Amanda said, "Eric is a nice guy I appreciate what he does for us. He helps me turn my mood around when I am having a rough time. I’m happy to see him each day."
Laura loves "that he is supportive and finds a way to make us laugh."
Jackie agrees that "Eric is a nice guy, and supports us to help make our voices heard!"

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.
This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while also promoting independence and inclusion.
Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and will be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.
All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
