#WorkingWednesday with Jonathan Floyd

Name:  Jonathan Floyd

If you have spent any time in Ravenna, you have likely heard of Jonathan Floyd and if you are at all familiar with the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce you have likely seen him.  Jonathan is a man about town, he is the self-proclaimed, Mr. Ravenna,  a wonderful spokesperson for community engagement and for employment and  for those qualities” he has been selected  as our 2021 Community Employment Ambassador.

My Floyd has accomplished a lot in his 46 years. From his first job at Davey Tree service which he got through the Option 4 program at Maplewood to his 2 current jobs, (Sunshine cupcakes and Marc’s in Ravenna) Jonathon has found work to be an important part of his life.  He also worked at Marc’s in Aurora for 11 years and at Quality Data Solutions for 7 years.

Jonathan also enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering and has spent his time volunteering at Reed Memorial Library, the Ravenna Athletic Center, The Ravenna Chamber and The First Congregational Church of Ravenna where he has volunteered for the last 24 years.

Jonathan says that he's not afraid to get out, but he understands sometimes people are afraid of being turned down or rejected.  He still is very positive about employment because he thinks people should just get out and work and meet people because it's fun and it gets you out of the house. When Jonathan is not working, volunteering, or encouraging others to participate in their community he spends his free time writing books (he has written 2 series so far), riding horses at Pegasus Farm, Competing in the special Olympics and spending time with his beloved dog Sammie.
