#WorkingWednesday - Summer Youth

With summer coming to an end, we wanted to check in with some of our Summer Youth Program participants. Our partner agency, OOD, provides the Summer Youth Work Experience.  By allowing youth the opportunity to work in a supported environment the youth can get real world experiences to help them when they graduate.

Today we interview Daniel and Michael Smolk, who we met earlier this summer.

Q: Where did you work this summer? 

Daniel:  Stow Acme
Michael:  5 weeks at Pet Supplies Plus in Streetsboro

Q: Did you like? If so why?

Yes.  A good way to build a resume.  Grow in our self-confidence.  

Q: What did you do there? 

Daniel...maintenance, janitorial, greeting, help customers with groceries, cart retrieval.
Michael...matched up different products in restocking with the correct batches.  Also did janitorial.  Unloaded delivery trucks.

Q: Would they want to work there?  

For now we  are happy.  It's a first stab at a real job.   

Q: Why did you do the summer work experience ? 

It helps build my job experience.  Gives me money to help sustain myself and try to save a bit.
