DSP Award Recipient - Sheila Wilhite
The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Sheila Wilhite as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of February 2023. Sheila works for ViaQuest, Inc. and was nominated by Portage DD SSA Deb Gordon.
Here is what Deb had to say about Sheila:
Sheila is an incredibly hard working person who dedicates herself to the well being of the people she serves. Sheila works many hours each and every week . She is reliable, kind, puts others needs always in front of her own. I recall a specific situation where she planned, shopped, cooked, served, cleaned up and worked with the person throughout that persons birthday party. She definitely goes the extra mile for the people she is charged to care for, making their lives better. Sheila cares deeply about the folks she works with, always preparing a home cooked meal, helping them to have a well decorated and maintained home . She manages to help people to their appointments, to shop, and to get out for fun and or to visit with their friends and family. Sheila has been a consistent resource throughout the last few years when staffing has fell short often, for many people!
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.
This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities while also promoting independence and inclusion.
Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.
All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
