Melinda Moore - January DSP Award Recipient
The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize a direct support professional who is an employee of All Hearts Home Health Care as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of January The recipient is Melinda Moore.
Melinda was nominated by SSA Lori Johnson, here’s what Lori had to say about Melinda: Melinda always goes above and beyond for a person she serves. When he was hospitalized over 90 days, she was in daily contact with the hospital, family, and this SSA. She arranged to video chat with him through his nurses so he could see her face when he was anxious (during COVID shut down and no in person visits) and when they had issues come up, the hospital would call her to talk with him because she has such a close bond with him (to take his meds, eat, etc.). Melinda sends weekly summaries of how he is progressing since discharge and often includes pictures of him enjoying activities with her (Beckwith's, ice cream stand, etc.) which makes it easy to see how he is improving since returning home.
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.
This award is an opportunity to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, while also promoting independence and inclusion.
Individual award recipients will receive public recognition from Portage DD and will be promoted on our social media channels. Award recipients will also later be considered for Direct Support Professional of the Year.
All nominations will be kept on file for review and consideration for a period of 12 months after initial submission.
