Amy Knott - October DSP Award Recipient

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities is proud to recognize Amy Knott as the Portage DD Direct Support Professional (DSP) Award Recipient for the month of October.  Amy, an Independent Provider, was nominated by Portage DD SSAs  Judy Fetterolf and Debra Gordon.  Here is what they had to say about Amy:

Amy opened her home to support people with disabilities over 15 years ago. She adjusted her personal home to build a supportive, loving, accessible place for people, and their pets, to thrive.   She has provided continuous care for people daily as well as emergency care for other people and their family’s when in need as well.  Amy consistently provides empathetic, dignified services with passion to help empower the people she serves and always includes people as part of her family in every aspect whether it be family meals, vacations, or holidays.
She has created spaces for people to live the life they choose to live, without judgment. She is an excellent advocate, has taught people to use technology to improve their independence, and has exposed people to life experiences that helped them to grow as people.
She uses her personal resources to shop, and provide for many people, and their families. Her generosity has not stopped with the people she serves, she extends her care to people’s loved ones as well, and she maintains community connections.
Amy is an extraordinary asset to this community.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) of the Month Award is for those staff who provide direct support or direct services for individuals served throughout Portage County.
