Portage DD Hosts Free Throw Contest

The Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities hosted their Annual Free Throw contest on Saturday. The event, sponsored by the Portage County Knights of Columbus, takes place each year in January.

The Knights of Columbus have sponsored the event each year since 1977.

"We're proud to have sponsored this amazing event for the last 43 years," Chapter President Michael Rodgers said. "If I have my way, we'll continue to do so for another 40 years."

Kent Mayor Jerry Fiala, a regular organizer and supporter of the event, recognized Portage DD and the Knights of Columbus through proclamations. State Representative Randi Clites, Portage County Commissioner Sabrina Christian-Bennett, and Trustee John Kovacich were also in attendance.
