Message From The Superintendent - October 2022

Greetings!

We hope everyone is doing well! Here are the updates.

We had only one person test positive for COVID in September. This reduced number is a significant improvement compared to the previous two months.

Portage DD continues working on the Strategic Plan for 2023-2025. We are working with the Impact Group to ensure our goals and objectives align with our Portage County Community Stakeholders. Along with assisting with our Strategic Plan, the Impact Group will also audit our communication and ensure we are effectively sharing information about our services, providers, and the extraordinary work in the community. We strive to communicate effectively, and this will ensure we are doing it the right way. We will have this completed by late November/early December.

We offered a grant to show some appreciation for our tremendous providers in Portage County. We have received 175 applications thus far. Everyone that applies and serves someone that lives in Portage County will receive grant money. Thank you, providers!

We wanted to thank United Disability Services (UDS). They have agreed to be our backup provider to get the Special Olympic athletes to and from events starting in January 2023. Thank you!

Starting in October, we have added water aerobics on Tuesday nights from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Swim lessons are being added on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm to 6:50 pm (infants, toddlers, and parents) and 7:00 pm to 7:50 pm (beginners/intermediate). We continue to have Family Swim on Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm

We also wanted to continue to thank the providers, families, Portage DD staff, and community members who help improve the lives of the people we serve. Thank you!

Thank you again for your continued support. We are incredibly grateful for all the families, providers, staff, community, and people we serve! Portage DD will continue to strive to meet and exceed your expectations.

WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.

Sincerely,

John Vennetti
